It should be straight and flat. Any sagging sections need to be supported properly to avoid the water collecting in these areas. There needs to be a clear passage for all the water to follow.

Although this may seem an unnecessary cost, it could save you a great deal in prevention of damp problems in the future. A little money invested now will be a very wise move.
