The sand on top of the cement will hide the containment, and provide a natural look. Concrete is often used for retaining walls. These are walls that keep up hills of dirt, and prevents erosion. Homeowners can choose to dye their walls any color, but some popular colors are neutral tones, and greys.

Another material that several builders and homeowners use is to lay mulch down. Mulch acts as a weed barrier, so the weeds will not poke through, or grow around the bushes and flowers. One type of mulch people use often is pine mulch. People will lay down mulch every year to keep the weeds from growing back.

When homeowners plant trees, shrubs, and flowers, they need to lay down top soil. Top soil will let the root system grow out horizontally to keep the plants and trees from falling over. Top soil also holds water well to keep moisture to the plants. There are some brands of top soil that are considered organic, which means that the soil is free of chemicals.

Another option to dress the yard is with pebbles. The pebbles are relatively inexpensive, and provide a vintage feel to the yard. They are perfect to use to line fish ponds, or the side of the house, so weeds will not sprout up.

There are many types of landscaping materials that homeowners and builders can buy at their local nursery, or home improvement center. There are hundreds of selections of stones, rocks, and soil that people can decorate the outside of their home with. Another option is to buy a fruit tree, which will flower and provide fruit to eat every year.

When builders and people who own homes decide to decorate their yards, they will be able to find landscape supplies at any gardening store. People can choose from hundreds of options that will fit into any budget. Planting trees around the yard will provide shade in several years, or fruit to eat in the fall. Ponds also offer a peaceful atmosphere when they are in the back yard.
